The Dead Walk 2010

Like most zombie films, The Dead Walk uses a sort of airbourne virus as the cause for the walking, living dead that also happen to eat your flesh. The characters are left to fend for themselves and survive while the world around them rots and decays with chaos and disease. People that would normally not meet under regular circumstances are forced to depend on and take care of one another, with the token douche character who is… shall we say cowardly giving everyone else a hard time for not going about things his way.

As for the aesthetics of the film, the skin and disease effects were fantastic. There is a particular scene where some skin is ripped off of a character’s shoulder, and it actually looks as though his skin is being parted from his person. The lighting was also pleasing to the eye.

If I needed to point out one thing that needs to be improved from this film I would have to say it was the quality of the sound. Sometimes the characters’ voices sounded grainy and other times it sounded like they were calling into a tunnel and the echo never bounded back.

Overall this is a superb zombie flick with wonderful effects and an engaging story line. For any fan of the zombie and living dead genres, I push you towards this independent film. It is definitely worth watching multiple times.
